About Me

Hello, I am Nick Carver

Software Developer. Christian. Enthusiast.

I love what I do now. I grew up in Western Kentucky, went through engineering school, and worked in manufacturing for three years. That time was invaluable for understanding teamwork, business needs, and time management. I was a good engineer.
Through robotics and PLC's, I discovered the magic of software. The cycle time from concept to implementation was much faster than mechanical systems, required less resources, and did not require the sourcing of materials and parts. I was hooked.
I saved and applied to Nashville Software School and have not regretted it a single moment. I take every opportunity to share my enthusiasm in tech with whoever is interested. I also get to work with a fantastic team of developers across the country to build a needed and performant application every day.
I love what I do.

Software Developer I

August 2021 - Present

Forms Development Team

  • Implemented a new insurance product from beginning to launch in five months using C#/.NET and Microsoft's SQL Server.
  • Worked in the engine that generated the correct forms for a policy and dynamically populated policyholder information
  • Used Azure Dev Ops to create and provide feedback on pull requests, measure sprint progress, and manage Features and Tasks.
  • Collaborated across a 17 person development team and the business analysts to overcome obstacles and define clear requirements.
  • Wrote readable, performant code and tests to minimize inefficiencies, errors, and bugs at product launch.
  • Used Timeular to track the time spent on a task. This enabled focus on the scope of the feature and increased productivity.

Junior Software Developer

Jan 2021 - June 2021

Intensive full-time 6-month software development boot camp focusing on full stack (Python/Django) development fundamentals and problem solving.
